As a large-scale comprehensive geopark that integrates scientific and aesthetic value in one, it is dominated by geological landscape such as karst caves, underground rivers, sinkholes, canyons, natural bridges, waterfalls, lakes and paleontological fossils, supplemented by ecological and cultural landscape.
With the forest coverage rate reaching 96%, the park maintains a nearly primitive ecological environment rich in animal and plant resources, becoming one of the complex subtropical ecosystems and important biological gene bank in China.
Jiubujiang National Geopark is one of the most complete karst geomorphic systems in a small area of China. The surface and underground karst landforms feature diverse varieties, including peak clusters, dissolved hills, dissolved valleys, blind valleys, depressions, funnels, stone forests, stone sprouts, natural bridges, sinkholes, shafts, karst caves and underground rivers. These landforms, developing characteristically and combining orderly, demonstrate a complete and systematic forming process and law.
